A state-park barrier island named for honeymoons — a reserved stretch of wild Gulf beach, a raised aisle in the sand, and the park gates closing at sunset.
Honeymoon Island is the barrier island off Dunedin that Florida kept wild: a state park of white-sand Gulf beach, slash pines, and osprey nests at the end of the Dunedin Causeway. Weddings run through the park's concessionaire, whose Beachside Ceremony Package reserves a beachfront location — potted palms, a raised aisle through the sand, signs guiding guests through the park — at published prices of $799 to $899 by day of week.
Receptions stay on the island at the South Beach Pavilion, with Bon Appetit Group, the park's only licensed caterer, handling food from its on-site café. The honest fine print is public too: guest entry fees scale with the count, the surcharge stack (service, sales tax, park fee) is spelled out, and the park closes at sunset — which, conveniently, is exactly when a Gulf-beach wedding wants to end.
